Rose is a YJR Outdoors nature-connection educator and bicycle instructor.
Rose Hammerman brings a unique blend of earth-based, nature-connection education and community-focused programming to YJR Outdoors. With a background rooted in project-based, self-directed learning, she has shaped her teaching style through experiences as a Forest School preschool teacher and Earth-Skills instructor, which she calls Free-Range Education. Rose holds a B.A. in Community Education from Goddard College, is Wilderness First Aid Certified, a certified Yoga teacher, and has trained at Tom Brown’s Tracker and Wilderness Survival School. Her programs have ranged from family days and childcare to school workshops, corporate retreats, and special interest events, always centered on the belief that play and natural surroundings are the most engaging way to learn and grow. She has cultivated skills from both urban and rural landscapes—teaching preschoolers fully outdoors, planning large events, supporting families, and integrating food cultivation and caretaking practices into her work. Raised in Philadelphia without a car, Rose has long relied on bicycles as a primary form of transportation, which makes her partnership with YJR Outdoors a natural fit.
Steph is a YJR Outdoors bicycle instructor.
Steph grew up in West Philadelphia and developed her love of biking at a very early age learning to ride on the city sidewalks at four years old. Steph lived in the city of Philadelphia for many years with her bike as her only form of transportation. After leaving the city she discovered the joys of mountain biking. When the opportunity to combine work and her love of biking arose with Yo! Just Ride she jumped at the chance to be part of such an amazing bike program.
