This summer, YJR Outdoors, in collaboration with Philadelphia Free Range Education, is thrilled to introduce a unique Youth Mountain Bike Camp at PaperTrail Bike Shop & Café and Historic Rittenhouse Town. This week-long adventure is designed for youth aged 8 to 14 (approximately 3rd to 8th grade) and seamlessly integrates mountain biking instruction with environmental education, fostering both physical skills and ecological awareness.

Camp Highlights:

• Skill Development: Campers will receive hands-on instruction in essential mountain biking techniques, including body positioning, braking, cornering, climbing, and descending. Through progressive learning, participants will build confidence and technical prowess on the trails.​

• Environmental Stewardship: Understanding and caring for the environment is a core component of the camp. Activities include trail maintenance, park cleanups, invasive species removal, and native plant restoration. Campers will learn to identify local flora and fauna, comprehend human impacts on ecosystems, and engage in conservation efforts.​

• Holistic Outdoor Experience: Beyond biking and environmental projects, the camp offers nature exploration activities such as wildlife observation and ecological education. This comprehensive approach ensures campers develop a deep connection to the natural world while honing their biking skills.​
  
  

Camp Details:

• Dates: June 23-28 and August 11-15​

• Location: PaperTrail Bike Shop & Café and Historic Rittenhouse Town​

• Ages: 8 to 14 years (co-ed)​

• Requirements: Participants must know how to ride a bike; no prior mountain biking experience necessary. A mountain bike with gears, helmet, and water bottle are required (rental options available).​

• Registration: Limited to 12 campers per session, with a minimum of 5 participants.​
